Products/Kernel/Virgin Coconut Oil
Line 01 · Kernel · Cơm

Virgin coconut oil (VCO).

HS 1513.11 HS 1513.11 crude · FFA ≤ 0.2% as lauric · Cold-pressed

Cold-pressed from fresh kernel, unrefined. Because it is unrefined it classifies as crude oil under HS 1513.11 — a line many Vietnamese and Indonesian exporters still get wrong on the invoice.

01 — Specifications

Four numbers, one basis.

Free fatty acid must be stated as lauric. Lauric acid has a molecular weight of 200.3 against oleic at 282.5 — quoting FFA on an oleic basis reads roughly 40% different for the same oil.

⚠ We do not sell "extra virgin coconut oil". The term has no basis in Codex CXS 210, in the ICC/APCC standard, or with the Philippine FDA — there is nothing to certify against, so quoting it would be a claim we cannot defend.

⚠ A drum is 190 kg net in a 200-litre shell. A supplier quoting a "200 kg drum" of coconut oil is quoting the shell volume as if it were the fill weight. Specify a heating pad on any flexitank booking.

Buyer questions
Why is VCO classified 1513.11 and not 1513.19?
Because 1513.11 is the crude line and VCO is unrefined. Refining is what moves an oil to 1513.19. Sri Lanka's tariff even carries an explicit line, 1513.11.11 "Virgin coconut oil, in bulk". Invoicing VCO as 1513.19 is a common and avoidable error.
Can you supply extra virgin coconut oil?
No, because no such standard exists. Codex CXS 210, the ICC/APCC standard and the Philippine FDA all define virgin coconut oil and stop there. Any supplier selling "extra virgin" is selling a marketing word, not a specification.
Does FFA alone tell you VCO from RBD?
No. RBD runs a tighter FFA than VCO — ≤ 0.1% against ≤ 0.2% — so FFA on its own points the wrong way. The distinguishing package is UV absorbance A278, Polenske value, colour and aroma.
Drums or flexitank?
Drums for trial and for buyers who decant in small lots; flexitank at 21,000 kg per 20ft once the programme is running. Always specify a heating pad — coconut oil solidifies below about 24 °C.
