HS 4402.20 Cube 25 mm · 72 pcs/kg · Silver-white ash

Coconut-shell cubes pressed for hookah. Ash percentage and ash colour are the first two numbers a shisha buyer checks — everything else on this page exists to support them.

01 — Specifications

The two numbers that decide the order.

Ash and ash colour lead every shisha RFQ. Note that EN 1860-2 does not apply to shisha charcoal — that standard governs BBQ. Grades and their ash bands are below.

⚠ Charcoal is dangerous goods. From 1 January 2026, IMDG Amendment 42-24 makes UN 1361 Class 4.2 mandatory with the SP 925/223 test-based exemptions removed: 14 days weathering or steam treatment plus inert-gas packing, material ≤ 40 °C on packing day, and no LCL movement.

What a quote tells you that a page can't.

This page describes the product. It can't quote your cube size, confirm the ash band your brand needs, or book a Class 4.2 slot with your carrier. One message can — here's what comes back.

Buyer questions
Which cube size should we order?
25×25×25 mm at 72 pieces per kg is the most-traded size worldwide. 22, 26 and 27 mm are available; the piece count per kg changes with it, so quote by size, never by "cubes".
Is this certified to EN 1860-2?
No, and it should not be. EN 1860-2 covers barbecue charcoal. Shisha is judged on ash percentage, ash colour, burn time and the drop test. A supplier quoting EN 1860-2 for shisha is quoting the wrong standard.
How is burn time measured?
Two ways, and they differ by roughly 40%: standby burn versus active smoking. We state which basis we used, because a 120-minute standby figure and a 120-minute smoking figure are not the same product.
What changed for shipping in 2026?
IMDG Amendment 42-24 became mandatory on 1 January 2026. Charcoal is always UN 1361 Class 4.2 now — the old test-based exemption is gone. Expect a weathering or steam-treatment certificate, an in-date UN N.4 report, and no LCL option.
